The GOENKAN APPROACH is an amalgamation and consolidation of the best of innumerable approaches followed by different schools of thought. The salient features of the well- known and accepted methods of imparting preschool skills were taken and developed into an eclectic and extensive approach to transact the process of learning. We use CCCP (CROSS- CURRICULAR CONTENT PEDAGOGY) across all grades. The key approaches/ methods we follow at GDGPS, Meerut are mentioned in the images attached.
MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION
Mother’s Day Celebration: Honoring the Unwavering Love and Dedication
Mother’s Day is an annual occasion celebrated worldwide to honor and appreciate the immeasurable contributions of mothers in our lives. This report provides an overview of the Mother’s Day celebration that took place on May 10, 2024, highlighting the essence of the event and its significance in recognizing maternal figures.
The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome speech, acknowledging the selfless dedication and sacrifices of mothers. An array of engaging activities was organized, including a craft corner where children created personalized gifts for their mothers. A photo booth allowed families to capture beautiful memories together. The highlight of the event was a heartwarming cultural program comprising of musical performances, dances, and skits, all dedicated to celebrating the spirit of motherhood.
ORIENTATION PROGRAM
At the commencement of the new session an orientation program was organized for the parents at GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT on 6 th April’24.
The program focused on various teaching techniques followed at GDGPS to teach students in the best possible way.
The program was hosted by Middle wing and Montessori wing Coordinators, which was then followed by speech of Honourable Principal Mrs. Sweeta Ojha.
The program started with a thought- “A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.” Welcoming parents to the new academic session, Honourable Principal, GDGPS spoke about the benefits of effective communication between parents and teachers; she laid emphasis on a strong connection with the school patrons. She also shared a few tips on good parenting. Moving further, she also spoke in detail about different ways of nurturing a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future.
The parents were briefed about the rules and regulations of the school. Later, respective teachers gave an overview of the various subjects and the activities which would be undertaken in the year ahead. Not to forget, the co-scholastic activities were also discussed that gave the parents an idea of the curriculum which is self-directed with hands-on learning activities that not only give our students a medium to fully utilize their creative talents and energies, but also help them in their all-round development.

SPORTS EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Sports Education Program initiated by Mr. Suraj P. Singh is made an integral part of our curriculum as it helps to teach various skills in students like team- work, collaboration, confidence, kinesthetic balance, mental alertness, limbs- mind coordination, self-esteem and a sense of responsibility. Our school has reserved considerable time in the timetable so that students get to practice their love for sports under the guided mentorship of coaches.
Few on the list are- Chess, badminton, athletics, cricket, kabaddi, kho-kho, martial arts, volleyball, table- tennis, carom, long jump etc. Also, the school has organized sports day thrice in this session. We lay equal emphasis on sports and co-curricular activities at G D Goenka.

As part of our commitment to sports education, the school has successfully organized three Sports Days during this academic session. These events are designed to encourage students to showcase their skills, promote house spirit, and develop a love for physical activity from a young age. At G.D. Goenka, we strive to create champions not just in sports but in life.
JR. WING BRAINCHILD: ATTRAVERSIAMO
A platform for budding young talent where we provide value-oriented learning experiences, Attraversiamo is a monthly event aimed at nurturing holistic development in students. Through engaging in a wide array of activities—such as BEATBOX, TEAM DREAM, TEC, RHETORIC CHANTEUSE, KALAKAAR, EXTEMPORE, ONE-ACT PLAY, MANCHAN, and many more—students are encouraged to explore their creative potential.
These programs, competitions, and experiences are crafted to embody the ethics and values we believe in, providing students with the opportunity to manifest these ideals in a practical and meaningful way. Through this, subtle yet significant character development occurs, helping learners internalize qualities like responsibility, teamwork, and empathy.
By offering students the chance to design their own learning curve, we empower them to take ownership of their educational journey. The young minds of today are tomorrow’s innovators, and *Attraversiamo* is our way of fostering that future creativity, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
EVACUATION MOCK DRILLS
Earthquake and fire mock drills were conducted in the school MSB to create awareness about the unforeseen calamities. To ensure the smooth flow of the events associated with the mock drill, a session held prior to help the students understand about the procedure and for preparedness. The use of fire extinguishers was demonstrated. and students were given proper training in it. After the presentation the siren was blown, and all the participants went to the evacuation area using the routes reflected. The drill was an opportunity to learn about precautionary measures. Mock drills were conducted to check the response plan of the organization with respect to our safe operating procedures. These were conducted under the able guidance of Mr. Suraj P. Singh & Ms. Apurva Pandey.
DENTAL CHECKUPS
GD Goenka Public School, Meerut, recently organized a dental checkup for its students. Dr. Monika, who conducted the session, did an excellent job. She not only performed thorough checkups but also provided an informative briefing on proper brushing techniques.
In addition to learning effective ways to maintain oral hygiene, students were also introduced to the importance of a balanced diet in dental care and how regular visits to the dentist can prevent future dental issues. The session emphasized preventive care, helping students understand the long-term benefits of adopting good dental habits. Dr. Monika also addressed common misconceptions about dental health, ensuring students leave with practical knowledge to implement daily.
The interactive session saw students asking questions about oral health, and Dr. Monika patiently answered all their queries. The initiative helped foster a sense of responsibility towards personal hygiene and empowered students with the knowledge to care for their teeth. The school’s proactive approach to health education, through such initiatives, not only benefits students’ physical well-being but also contributes to their overall development.
HEALTH CAMPS
Health camps for students, staff, and sub-staff are a regular feature at GD Goenka Public School, Meerut. The School Health and Wellness Club organized several sessions and health camps on the premises to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Abhishek Jain and his team dedicated an entire day to conducting comprehensive body checkups for all participants. Along with measuring height and weight to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI), they also monitored other vital parameters like blood pressure and overall fitness levels. Students received personalized advice on adopting a balanced diet, staying active, and the significance of mental well-being in maintaining overall health.
The session was interactive, allowing students to ask questions about their health and receive expert guidance. At the conclusion of the camp, each student was given a detailed health card outlining their individual health status, along with personalized recommendations for improvement. Such initiatives reflect the school’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its students, fostering a culture of health awareness that extends beyond the classroom.
BRAINISTA CLUB
The art and science of asking questions is the source of all the knowledge. Science is a way of thinking and it’s not about why, it’s about ‘why not?’.
To fill the students with curiosity, Interhouse Science Quiz, Mathematic Quiz and English Quiz were organised by Brainista Club.
Science exhibition had been organized by the Middle school students under the able flagship of science facilitator. We encourage scientific reasoning, discoveries and inventions.
Innovative teachers well equipped laboratories help students explore, discover and experiment new things under the best supervision.
THE RAAS: DUSHHERA CELEBRATION
The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals. India is known as a land of festivals and celebration, Dussehra and Navaratri are the one which are unique in their perception and significance. Different cultures in India celebrate Navaratri festival in their own unique way. But the cause for celebration is one- to commemorate the triumph of good over evil. Across India, different cultures dedicate nine whole days to celebrate the victory of good over evil.
The stories behind the celebrations of Dussehra or Navaratri, are also varied: Rama’s victory over the 10 headed demon King Ravana, Durga’s slaying of demon Mahishasur after nine nights and 10 days of continuous battle or Raja Jagat Singh’s penance. Festivals are the period of celebration and bring peace and joy for everyone. They are an expressive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture and traditions. To enhance that among our little ones, G D GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT organized a fun filled RAAS DANDIYA FEST for Dussehra and Navaratri Celebration. The programme started with the opening speech by the Principal Mrs. Sweeta Ojha and welcome speech by our beloved Dr. Brij Bhushan Sir followed by dance performances by Montessori and Middle school students.
ORUMBH: SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES
Assemblies are an integral part of the school system. School assemblies instill a sense of belongingness, develop core values, learn discipline and build confidence. Most assemblies have one thing in common – they are a place and time where students and teachers come together for a shared purpose. That purpose is usually to provide an opportunity for students and teachers to consider spiritual and moral issues, to develop community spirit and reinforce positive attitudes.
We feel that well-planned and engaging school assemblies are as important as well-planned and engaging academic lessons. It enables young and old to pause, reflect and to think deeply about themselves, their world and beyond. We firmly believe that’s a very important slot in the school day as it prompts learning of the highest order.
Furthermore, it might be one of the only times in a busy timetable, in which we are all encouraged to stop, be still and reflect – a valuable skill in this day and age. We, at GDGPS had special assemblies on Hindi Diwas, Onam, Janmashtami, Independence Day, National Sports Day, World Animal Welfare Day, Teacher’s Day. Children’s Day Dussehra, Deepawali and all other days of importance.
Assemblies powerfully nurture the development of intrapersonal intelligence, and they are the hallmark of a strong school community – this is who we are; this is what we stand for. The four houses take care of organizing assemblies on specific topics and special occasions.
A DAY FOR GURUS
Teacher’s Day was celebrated with great fervor and joy at GD Goenka Public School, Meerut. The students of middle school organized a special assembly to express their heartfelt gratitude and affection for their mentors, offering a touching tribute to their teachers. Thoughtful performances, speeches, and handmade cards added a personal touch, making the celebration even more meaningful.
Later in the afternoon, the teachers enjoyed a fun-filled *get-together*, where they participated in a variety of engaging activities and games. The facilitators also took the stage, showcasing their hidden talents through wonderful performances that brought everyone together in celebration. The day was filled with laughter, appreciation, and a sense of unity, reflecting the bond shared between teachers and students.
CAMPUS NEWS
Lamp of Solidarity, nationalism and patriotism shines bright as G D Goenka Public School, Meerut observed Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July. All students paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War. This is an unforgettable day and will always be in the pages of history.
On this day, in 1999, the Indian armed forces were defeated. Pakistan’s attempts to capture strategic heights in Kargil in ‘Operation Vijay’. In their homage to all those who lost their lives in Kargil protecting our nation and motherland the Goenkans bowed down to the indomitable valor and sacrifice of the Indian Army and asserted the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces which motivates them every single day and the nation would continue to follow their ideals. Jr. and Middle wing students also participated in Slogan Writing, Poster Making and Essay Writing Contest. They collaborated and drafted a message of tribute to express their gratitude for our soldiers and lit a lamp of solidarity. The message of gratitude rang out strong and clear with a never dying spirit of patriotism and a flame of nationality……..
“Gone but not forgotten”.
Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of Lord Ganesha was celebrated with great fervor, enthusiasm and joy by the Jr. and Middle Wing on 10th September, 2021. The Special Assembly began with Ganesh Vandana and dance. Audio–visual narration of Lord Ganesha’s stories, narration about Lord Ganesha and various other interesting activities were the part of the celebration. children also made Lord Ganesha idol with clay. Children were taught about the significance of the festival which they thoroughly enjoyed. They prepared beautiful crafts on Ganesh
Chaturthi. Ganesh visarjan was also held so that students understand the rituals and value tradition.
Students of the Jr. and middle Wing came together in a Special Assembly to celebrate ‘International Peace Day’ on 21st September. The significance of the day was well explained through discussions, speech, songs and beautiful craftwork focusing on the theme – ‘Finding Peace amidst chaos’ to help everyone recover better, build resilience, and transform our world into a place that is more equal, more just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier. Such activities provide food for thought to the learners and help them brainstorm to find problems to real- life problems. They learn to be the part of the solution and a sense of belongingness towards surroundings and environment instils in them naturally.
Diwali – Festival of Lights and SpIritual Victory of light
Diwali is a festival of lights and symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita Devi and brother Lakshmana return to their homeland after 14 years in exile. The villagers lit a path for Rama, who had defeated the demon king Ravana. The people of Ayodhya lined the streets and their homes with oil wicks in clay lamps to welcome them. G D GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT celebrated Diwali on 19th Oct ’22. The school campus was decorated with lights, flowers and beautiful, vibrant rangolis. The school conducted various activities for all the classes, like lantern making, Diya decoration and diya colouring. The winners were announced, and the certificates were distributed. HERITAGE QUIZ
India has been blessed with a lineage of history, culture and traditions which have been in a constant state of evolution since ancient times. The birth of varied civilizations and their journeys has led to a Pot-Pourri of amalgamated cultural heritage which is vibrant in colour, rich in flavour and which has spread its fragrance all over the World. To celebrate our ancestry, and As a part of extended learning an INTERHOUSE HERITAGE QUIZ COMPETITION was conducted at GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT on 18 th April’23. Students of all the houses from grade 3 to 7 participated in the competition.
LABOUR DAY CELEBRATION
LABOUR DAY CELEBRATION “A worker is a creator and a great asset to every nation”. May 1st is celebrated as International Labour Day or May Day. This day has its origin from the Labour Union Movement in the U.S. This day which marks the celebrations of the working class and the labourers has put an end to their exploitation and unfair treatment.
Thus, GDGPS, Meerut also celebrated this day by paying respect to the people who work for the School. Beautiful cards made by students were distributed to the supporting staff of the School by the Students. Honourable Principal Ms. Neelu Jawla thanked all the sub staff members and showed gratitude to them by presenting garlands. In addition to that she stated and asked children and teachers to have gratitude in heart for those who serve us and told that this day reminds us to be kind and respectful towards all those who help us on a daily basis.
To make the celebration more memorable, a special assembly was organized where students performed skits and delivered speeches highlighting the importance of workers in society. The event aimed to instill a sense of appreciation and respect among the students for the efforts of the support staff who play a crucial role in the school’s smooth functioning. The supporting staff were visibly moved by the heartfelt gestures and the warm acknowledgment of their hard work. The celebration concluded with refreshments for the staff, reinforcing the school’s message of unity, dignity of labor, and gratitude for the unsung heroes who contribute to the success of the institution every day.
STUDENT’S WORKSHOP- BULLY TO BUDDY

Be a buddy and a bully and respect each individual, to teach this to our students an awareness workshop on ‘Buddy to Bully’ was organized by the Montessori and Middle wing Coordinators, Ms.Maneesha Chaudhary and Ms. Bhanupriya Malhan respectively, for the students of grade III-VIII on 11 th April’ 23 at GDGPS, Meerut. The facilitators explained to students that Bullying- violates human rights of an individual to participate freely in his/ her environment. All are not born with all qualities. Each individual is unique from each other irrespective of physical abilities, memory and creativity. The aim of the program was to sensitise children about root causes and consequences of bullying and different psycho-social issues of both the victim and victimizer. The program addressed the need of identification, protection and empowerment of a bully in school and community level. The program involved various activities and games. Teachers and students actively participated throughout the program.
